Brent In2 Work currently have a CSCS Test Centre which is available for candidates wishing to take their CSCS Test. Please see below for information on what it is and how to apply.
What is a CSCS Card?
The CSCS card is an individual identification and registration card (similar to the new style Drivers’ license) which lasts for three to five years (dependant on which type of classification you obtain).
The CSCS card shows the holder is considered to be competent at their job, lists any relevant certificates and also shows that the holder has undergone health and safety awareness training or testing.
Why do I need a CSCS card?
The government is committed to driving the cowboys out of the construction industry and raising standards of both workmanship and health and safety. Many influential bodies are working towards a policy of a fully qualified workforce by 2010 when it will be compulsory to prove workers skills and qualifications before they can work on site.
Many contractors are already asking for all workers on their site to hold a CSCS card to prove their competence in their stated occupation and that they have health and safety awareness.
Some clients are also specifying that contract will only be awarded to contractors and sub-contractors with carded workforces.
A CSCS card shows that the holder is occupationally competent and has health and safety awareness. The colour coding indicates the level of skill of the holder.
How much does the test cost?
The test costs £20.00 but does not include study material for the card. An additional £25 is required for the purchase of the card.
Helping you prepare for your test
There is a range of publications available to help you train and revise for your test. These include:
- The Test Question Book: This contains all the questions and answers you could face in the test. It is put together in an easy to read format and is available to buy priced £8.49
- The Test Question CD-Rom: Contains all the questions and answers you could face in the test, with a voice-over to questions in English and mock-up tests so you can practise. It is put together in the same format as to how the actual exam is presented to you on screen and is available to buy priced at £10.99
